SP3 Questions
1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer high-end/natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? (no i dont like them sorry - it has nothing to do with cost).
I have to admit I am a yarn snob, but I am a sucker for Sirdar acrylics. So for me its not about what it's made out of, but if I don't like knitting with it. I do not like cottons (knitting with them I mean). I have always wanted to try brown sheeps cotton fleece i think it's called. None of our LYS's have it around here. I think its like 50% cotton 50% wool. I like stuff I can wash. Don't have to be able to dry it, but atleast like to wash it. I do not like sock y arn that is variated.. I like nice thick stripes, or solid colors. Noru is the only varieted yarns I tend to like. I am not into frou frou yarn, i use it to make things for other people.
2. Do you spin? Crochet?
Nope
3. Do you have any allergies?
Smoke isn't my favorite smell in the world..
4. How long have you been knitting?
3 months
6. What's your favorite scent? Food or natural smells, nothing flowery or perfume. Vannila, bannana, etc.. are nice.
7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
Lime tic tacs! Mosty I don't have a sweet tooth.. cavities are evil!
10. What's your favorite color? I don't like to wear brown. I like earthy colors, sages, creames, dark lylac. No orange, no yellow, no florecents. I love to wear blue, not navy though! I don't tend to wear black very often, or reds.
11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
JUST married 3 weeks ago. 1 dog, 1 cat.
13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
Cascade 220, Plymouth Baby Alpaca, Nuro, Sirdar, Rowan, Phildar, Debbie Bliss.
14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
100% cottons, things that can't be washed.
15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
Phildar because I can't get my hands on it. Older rowan patterns, the new nuro designs, Dale of norway.
16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? Not sure, baby sweaters don't take as long but I don't have a baby. Only thing I have tried to make for myself is a tank top.. so I have no idea.
17. What are you knitting right now?
Toddler sweater, baby hats, tank top for myself from rowan. I am a "gap" kinda girl.. or bannana republic, american eagle.. boot cut jeans and a simple comfy tank, with an open layered light jacket, fitted.
18. What do you think about ponchos?
not really into them.. guess I'm weird..
19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
Love clover bamboo straights, love addi turbo circulars.
20. How did you learn to knit?
People, and the internet. Taking a class now because I knit wrong! :(
21. How old is your oldest UFO?
nothing is over 3 months old because thats how long I have been knitting.. I have a hat that was almost finished and then the needle fell out of it..

anti-progress
I made lots of progress last night on brett's sweater:

But it was.. ANTI-PROGRESS! You see I some how wound up going up a bit to far in stockinette before the purls. So well thats no big deal cause I did that on the back side up farther up. wait a minute bindy, you know you have to seam this together right? You know if you seam it and it's not identical that the rows won't line up right?
Crap, you mean I actually have to think ahead? So I'll be froggin some rows tonight!

I am not a registerted vote, but me and my husband decided to vote this year. I watch a wonderful "news" program on the comedy channel that has shown me how our leaders lie. Bascially they show video of candidates saying one thing, then denying saying it later. It's pretty funny, and one reason people my age are so synical about the government.
So we decided to vote! Vote for whomever you WANT to vote for, but just VOTE!

New pattern..
I found this pattern while looking around the LYS in class tuesday:

The great thing about SIRDAR is these can be knit from newborn to 6 year old.. I just love that. So if I really like how it turns out, I can make him the next size up!
It's going to Brett's second sweater I knit him. I didn't allow myself to purchase the yarn yet.. I'm not allowed till I finish his other sweater. I love the yarn it's made out of, and I actually got two skeins of it in the olive green color, to make a hat as a quick project for a co-workers baby, and if I like the way it turns out I can do one for Brett, and THEN he would have a matching sweater and hat!!
I want to start it right now, but I don't want to allow myself to have that whole problem with not having any FO's. So.. no yarn for me!! :(
The last two nights may hands were very dry.. which is weird because I have knitted for a few months without a dry hand problem.. and all it does is rain..

as the world turns..
well as it truley does turn out my knitting is all messed up. I am glad I decided to take a different teacher this time. I am a true believer you should always try to have different teachers. Imagine what you could do with the combined knowdlege of 3 or 4 expert knitters? This teacher is a bit more detail orianted and we got all kinds of neat hand outs. I was in denial of my needing to be in a "begginers" class (I am an over achiever) but it does look as though I need to be in it.
She showed me how to tell me knitting was messed up by streching my knitting out horizontally in my hands. She then stretched another girls knitting. It was all knice and even, mine stretched out had small holes and big holes.. she said the small ones are my twisted ones.
She also very clearly explained to us how to do the math in your head for deciding needle size and gauge based on what the pattern says and what the yarn says. I finally *got it*.
So I'm really SUPER mad because from what she saw my knits and purls are wonky. Class flew by and so we didn't get to me learning how to do it right. Another lady in class was knitting in some REALLy strange way I had never seen before. I wonder how many people are knitting wonky and don't know it? It's very hard to tell, and the FO's SEEM okay but it's this whole "slant to the stich" thing and effects the "spring" in the finished "fabric" as she said.
So I am sooooooooooo anxious to learn how to knit right. I'm making a cute hat out of some Sirdar yarn for a co-workers new baby, and one for my sisters son, as fun side projects inbetween the two harder ones. Problem is I want to knit it RIGHT. So I went home and got out my little book which does have a very short illustration of continental knitting and purling but when i stretched out my knitting it was still wonky mis-shapin holes.
CAN I TELL YOU HOW FRUSTRATING IT IS!! ya know when you accidently pass your exit on the highway and it's about 3 miles before the next exit, you know that awful feeling when you KNOW your going in the wrong direction and you don't need to be, but you can't do anything about it just yet? That is a pet peeve of mine, and exactly how I feel RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!
In other news I am going to buy another domain for my knitting blog and I'm not going to say here, instead i will just start commenting in blogs with my new address and those who know me will recoginize some things.. but I'm doing it so on the off chanse I want to make any personal remarks about my life I don't want to have to worry about people I know reading it. Not that i say much about my personal life, but I don't like editing myself and I don't like thinking people I know read about my knitting (unless I personally give them the URL and know they are reading it, thats fine).
Oh and I have a sore knitting muscle in my left hand :) hehe.. I n eed to GET INTO SHAPE! haha..
